National Treaties Relating to Missile Defense

A list of treaties relating to disarmament, proliferation of ballistic missile technology, and missile launch notification.

The MTCR is a set of guidelines adopted by the United States governing the transfer of missile-related technology.

This treaty sought to eliminate intermediate-range nuclear-armed missiles, such as those the United States placed in Europe, thereby primarily restricting the offensive nuclear deterrent to missiles of intercontinental-range.

Prohibits signatories from installing in orbit or on the moon nuclear or any other weapons of mass destruction, and limits the moon and other celestial objects to non-military uses.
