Another Failed Bulava Test for Russia

December 11, 2009 :: The Moscow Times :: News

The Moscow Times and Agence France Presse are reporting another failed Bulava missile test in Russia. The latest test, conducted from the White Sea on one of Russia's Borei-class submarines (the platform for the new Bulava, a sea-based version of Russia's Topol-M [SS-27 Stalin] surface-to-surface ICBM), is the 8th failure out of 12 total tests, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The missile is reported to have failed in its third stage; recent failed tests involved difficulties in the first and second stages. The Bulava is said to have a range of 5,000 miles. (Article)
