New Missiles Allegedly on Display at China Parade

October 1, 2009 :: Xinhua :: News

China held its National Day Parade today, commemorating 60 years of communist rule. Early last month, an anonymous source from China's Second Artillery Force stated that the PLA was planning to display for the first time five new domestically-developed Chinese missiles, ranging from cruise missiles to ICBMs. Experts were expecting to at least see the DF-41 for the first time.

The DF-41 is an upgrade from the older DF-31A, which had already put the entire continental U.S. in range of a chinese missile. Another missile to watch for is the JL-2 a submarine-launched ballistic missile known to be in development.

Nobody has yet identified and confirmed which new missiles were actually on parade.
