MDA Test Plans for 2006

Defense Daily reports that MDA’s schedule for FY 2006 and 2007 includes tests of its Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (Aegis BMD), Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), and Patriot systems. The FY 2006 schedule comprises four GMD tests including one planned intercept, five THAAD tests against simulated and live targets, and two Aegis BMD flight tests. The agency also plans to conduct a critical measurements and countermeasures flight test, participate in two test launches of ICBMs, assist in a Japanese Cooperative Target test, and participate in three Israeli Arrow tests. The FY 2007 schedule includes three GMD tests, one THAAD flight test, two Aegis BMD flight tests, and one Patriot flight test. MDA will also take part in at least two ICBM flight tests and one Israeli Arrow flight test.
